Opportunities for Law Students
Law student interns are an integral part of MHAS. A broad
range of experience is available to interns, depending on their
particular interests. MHAS assists clients in a wide variety of
areas including: special education, juvenile dependency, Social
Security and other government benefits, access to services,
protection of individual rights, and landlord/tenant issues.
Interns will work under the supervision of MHAS attorneys.
MHAS is unable to pay student interns. Therefore we encourage
students to seek PILF grants or other funding or to inquire at
their schools about receiving course credit for internships.

MHAS welcomes law
graduates who are interested in volunteering while awaiting bar results or who
have law school-funded post-graduate programs for students awaiting bar results.
If you are interested in volunteering, send an email to
pmarx@mhas-la.org.
Undergraduate juniors and seniors are also invited to volunteer.
Read about our Summer 2012
opportunities here.
There are
also many opportunities to help MHAS further our mission by helping with
administrative or fundraising work in our office. If you are interested in these
types of opportunities, email
info@mhas-la.org.
Our
pro bono attorney partners have historically been an incredibly important part
of our success. MHAS is a proud member
of the SoCal Pro
Bono Managers, and we participate in the ABA's
Pro Bono Week
Celebration each year. We are also proud to be a part of
California's Campaign for
Justice. We have a variety of opportunities for attorneys to partners with
us on cases in a pro bono capacity, and we are initiating a new pro bono special
education project as well.
Please contact Pam Marx at
pmarx@mhas-la.org if you are interested
in doing pro bono work with MHAS.
